Throughout the year the birds main diet consists of Champion Blend obtained from Bucktons.

Tonic seed is also provided on a regular basis and again obtained from Bucktons.

Millet sprays (Chinese) are always available to adults and youngsters and provided daily throughout the year. Grit is provided in the main flight at all times. Murphys Minerals are now provided in all Breeding cages (no grit since July 2003) and most probably will offer it in the main flight also. Thankfully no problems have been experianced with eggs and I have been breeding successfully since then and still no issues arising.

Groats are used at various times of the year.

They are soaked and form part of the soft food diet for the youngsters.

The soft food used during the breeding season consists of a tried and tested formula, nothing new, just good old fashioned grated carrot and boiled eggs. Orlux is then added and mixed through.

Some of the supplements provided by The Birdcare Company  are shown above. Two which I use on a regular basis are Calcivet and Aviclens.

Hygiene is of paramount importance in the birdroom and I use the above to clean and sterilise all water utensils. This task is undertaken twice weekly
